Are they all alternatives or just alternative frontends? Peertube is early but a federated, separate service.

LBRY is a separate service, Newpipe and Freetube are third party apps, and Invidious is an alternative frontend. kinda confusing to put them all together

Invidious is a fucking hydra.

Every x amount of time google cuts of a head the beast has to sleep a little but ultimately it just gets patched back.

Serious las week youtube stopped using Dash to serve videos and “It might take months to get invidious running again” turned in just 48 hours before an update arrived. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Youtube website ? You mean our shared datadrive server for storing online video footage?

Adversarial Interoperability is my fetish

I liked freetube very much because I could export all subs to newpipe on my android. Adblock is a bit iffy on android browsers in my opinion, and newpipe works and looks a treat. Then youtube broke freetube. After about a week of it not working I stopped looking for an update and went back to browser+adblock on pc.

Sorry, freetube devs. Still appreciate you <3

uBlock Origin works as well on Firefox on Android as it does on desktop, in my experience.

Peertube is great, it just needs more users. Best of all, it has no BS Crypto.

If the alternatives are Youtube rebroadcasters are they alternatives or just an adblocker wrapper?

That's not rhetorical. I don't know if I see a path for moving away of these huge UGC aggregators when the content is so consolidated or what that means. Is the endgame that Youtube's content poofs out of existence? Somebody nationalizing it or creating some public repository where however many exabytes of video Youtube is storing get replicated?
